Southwest Windpower Wind Turbines

Southwest Windpower has been designing and supplying small wind turbines since 1987 and is the recognised global leader in the design, manufacturing and distribution of small wind systems between (400-3,000 watts).

The company has its headquarters in Arizona USA and Cologne Germany. It has been a leader in the development of wind technology, shipping more than 170,000 wind turbines to over 120 countries worldwide and distributing in 80 plus countries.

System applications include residential homes, commercial properties, micro grids, remote cabins, telecoms transmitters, offshore platforms, water pumping and sailboats.

Whisper Wind Generators

Whisper wind generators capture the power of nature to provide energy to off-grid areas around the world. Whether you’re creating a hybrid system with wind and solar, powering telecommunications sites or water pumping, Whisper provides dependable energy anywhere there’s consistent wind.

Whisper’s patented side-furling design protects the turbine in high winds and maximizes output at any speed.

Whisper has three models to accommodate your wind conditions and energy requirements. If your site meets the following criteria, there’s a Whisper model to meet your needs:

  • At least 10 mph (4.4 m/s) average wind speed best results at 12 mph (5.4 m/s) or moreYour property is at least 0.5 acre (0.2 hectare) and has unobstructed views
  • The local zoning allows a structure that is at least 52 ft (16 m) tall. Your local Whisper dealer can help determine this
  • The small-wind system with big-ticket features

Whisper wind generators are designed and built in America with standard features you may not expect from a small-wind system, including the exclusive side-furling angle. Unlike other wind turbines that lose as much as 80% of their output in high winds, Whisper provides maximum output in any wind.

Every Whisper model also comes standard with the Whisper Controller, which includes a diversion load to ensure quiet, safe operation even when the batteries are fully charged. The Controller is easy to install in your battery room and protects both your turbine and your battery.

The Whisper Controller is also available with an optional LCD display that gives you instant feedback on your turbine’s performance. The display can be mounted on the Controller, or up to 1000 feet (300 m) away for remote monitoring. There’s also an optional anemometer to help you compare wind speed and output to make sure your turbine is operating efficiently.

Combining wind power with solar is ideal for helping you meet your energy needs. In general, cloudy days tend to produce more wind and calm days more sun, so bringing the two together creates a perfect complementary system for keeping your batteries charged.

Whisper 100
Ideal for moderate to high winds, the Whisper 100 produces approximately 100 kilowatt hours a month in an average 12 mph (5.4 m/s) wind. It’s also one of the quietest wind turbines ever tested.

Whisper 200
Larger blades produce up to twice the energy of the Whisper 100. A high-voltage model is available for transmission over larger distances and for specialty applications such as water pumping.

Whisper 500
The high-performance Whisper 500 can produce as much as 500 kilowatt hours a month in an average 12 mph (5.4 m/s) wind, comparable to the needs of a typical off-grid home.

AIR Products

Off the grid doesn’t have to mean out of luck. AIR small wind turbines allow you to harness nature’s energy to power your day-to-day needs practically anywhere on Earth with sustained winds. The best-selling small wind generators in the world, AIR turbines are ideal for sailboats, RVs, remote cabins and offshore platforms.

AIR Breeze
The quietest and most powerful AIR ever. AIR Breeze produces more energy in lower winds and is so quiet, it blends into background sounds such as wind.*

AIR X
Ideal for higher-wind environments. Our X model performs better in higher winds and has a smart controller to regulate blade rotation. AIR X eliminates the buzzing noise commonly found with most small wind turbines.

Bringing the power of the sun and wind together. Naturally. Combining wind power with solar is ideal for helping you meet your energy needs. In general, cloudy days tend to produce more wind and calm days more sun, so combining the two creates a perfect complementary system for keeping your batteries charged.

Skystream 3.7

Launched in Europe in 2008, the award winning Skystream is primarily designed for grid connection, although it can be configured for off-grid applicaitons. While a residential home may use only one turbine, the system is easily scalable for multiple unit deployment for commercial lighting applications and micro-grid developments. Skystream is a GL certified product and carries a 5 year warranty. Skystream is certified for the MCS Scheme in the UK, which makes it eligible for the feed in tariff. To date, over 7,500 units have been sold worldwide. A DC output model will be available in late 2011.
The Skystream 3.7® is a fully integrated, utility-connected wind generator designed specifically for homes and small businesses. In simple terms, it shows you’ve taken charge of your home’s energy needs. It’s a symbol of independence.
